In the fast-paced world of music and entertainment, few professionals have made a name for themselves like Tony DeYoung. As the founder of Tony DeYoung Entertainment, he’s worked tirelessly to build a reputation in the industry. In this exclusive interview with The Entrepreneur Post, Tony DeYoung shares his insights on the music industry, the challenges faced by independent artists, and potential strategies for success.
The Music Industry’s Challenges for Independent Artists
The Entrepreneur Post: Tony, you’ve worked with numerous artists and have a deep understanding of the music industry. What are some of the biggest challenges faced by independent artists today?
Tony DeYoung: Independent artists I’m sorry I’m not working with you guys as much anymore, but how am I supposed to feed my family and pay my bills with how you guys choose to carry yourselves in the music industry? You don’t listen to experts, you don’t digitally market enough to land any sponsorships and investors? Most of you independent artists can’t send more than $100 to $500 to $1000 at a time and what are we doing with that exactly? It takes $50k to $100k minimum to break into a celebrity with digital marketing and publicist work in 2025, so how are you coming up with all that money without a sponsor or investor or major label support? Do you have $50k to $100k dollars of your own money to put up? No right? So yes we need to be able to land sponsors or what am I working with you for? You’re not going to be able to pay your bills if you can’t land sponsors and investors and major deals? I haven’t worked a regular job in over 7 years.
The Entrepreneur Post: That’s a candid perspective. What advice would you give to independent artists looking to overcome these challenges?
Tony DeYoung: The advice would be to develop a strong online presence, build relationships with brands and investors, create high-quality content, and network with industry professionals.
The Entrepreneur Post: Tony, thanks for sharing your insights with us today. Your perspective is valuable to many aspiring artists and entrepreneurs.
Tony DeYoung: Thank you, The Entrepreneur Post. I appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts with your readers.
